Google and YouTube on Sunday put a black ribbon on its homepage in the USA. This was a way of showing solidarity against the death of George Floyd. Floyd was an unarmed black man who died in police custody.

The Indian-American CEO of the tech giant Sunder Pichai indicated on Sunday.

“Today on US Google & YouTube homepages we share our support for racial equality in solidarity with the Black community and in memory of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery & others who don’t have a voice,” Pichai wrote on Twitter.

“For those feeling grief, anger, sadness & fear, you are not alone,” Pichai said,

sharing a screenshot of the Google search home page highlighted,

“We stand in support of racial equality, and all those who search for it.”

Pichai’s remarks came amid the global protest against the death of the unarmed black man George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer.

“I CANT BREATH”- George Floyd

As the police officer was attacking Floyd, he went on and pleaded for air whilst the officer pressed his knee on the victim’s neck, which led to his death. Nevertheless, the worldwide protest led to the arrest of the police officer in a bid to seek justice for Floyd. The Minneapolis police officer has been arrested and charged with murder.

Online Gaming Hold Virtual Tribute for George Floyd

The death of black American Floyd and the ongoing Black Lives Matter protest led to a lot of tribute in the whole world. And the most fascinating thing is that online gaming has joined solidarity with everyone else.

Sony delays the release of the PlayStation 5. They went on and pledged $1 million in support of the black communities in the USA. Moreover, Activision also joined the Black Lives Matter protest as they also delay the launch of Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. At the same time, they have assured that they are going to combat racism comments in its video games.

Elsewhere, Rockstar Games went on and take both Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online down for two hours last week to honour the legacy of George Floyd.

”Black Lives Matter. To honour the legacy of George Floyd, today, 6/4/20, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. ET, we will be shutting down access to our online games, Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online”. Rockstar Games wrote on their twitter handle.

Final Thoughts

Not only Google stand against the racism of colour. But also all over the world, the Black Lives Matter protest was embraced. And the world is against the death of Floyd. Only justice will make the world find peace in the death of this popular lad.
